Vilanova Park, Costa Dorado

Vilanova Campsite

This is a popular and lively Spanish campsite, situated near excellent transport links which can take you to Barcelona which is only 46 kms away (30 minutes drive), and also to the beaches.

The site is only 3 km from the beach and 3 km from the nearest town of Vilanova i La Geltru. It is situated on Spain's Costa Dorado , or "Gold Coast", an area with some fantastic beaches. The campsite is open for most of the year, if not for the whole year and for this reason it is a great choice for those "out of season" camping holidays in search of some Spanish sun in autumn, winter and spring !

There is an excellent pool complex and a wellness centre including a Jacuzzi and sauna (payable). The campsite has spectacular fountains that are floodlit at night. The restaurant and bar are located in a beautifully restored Catalan farmhouse.

In addition, if you are into crazy golf or putting then you will love the Adventure golf course at this campsite.

Things to Do in the Area

Barcelona (46 km)

Barcelona is famous for its architecture, including the designs of the famous Gaudi. The photograph shows his church the "Sagrada Familial", which translates to the "Sacred Family". You will see other interesting examples of his architecture in the town. You can also visit Park Guell, a magical park with amazing buildings, sculptures, and tile work designed by Gaudi. Gaudi's old home is in Park Guell and is now open to the public as a small museum. Casa Batlló is one of the most interesting and unusual houses in Barcelona.

Tarragona (40km)

There are many impressive Roman remains in this town which have been designated as a World Heritage Site. You cantarragona visit the Roman "Amphitheatre of Tarragona" overlooking the sea and 4km to the north of the town there is an aqueduct, showing the clever civil engineering of the romans. The town hosts an international Fireworks competition towards the beginning of July.

Port Aventura (40 km)

This Large Theme Park has 5 different themed areas including the Far West, Mexico, China, Polynesia and Mediterranea. There is a great selection of rides, shows, rollercoasters and games for the whole family. Watch out if you have non swimmers as it is possible that the lifejackets run out if its High Season and they dont seem to allow arm bands, so please plan this outing carefully if your children can't swim.

Aquopolis

Aquopolis is great for a day out and has all sorts of aquatic attractions including a Kamikaze slide, a Black Hole and the thrilling Aquamania which has a variety of slides including a triple slide, twisting slides, river rapids, a wave pool, a hydrotherapy pool and a swimming pool. In addition, there is an area for small children and a games area for all the family with mini-golf and bumper boats.

Reus (65km)

This is the town where the artist/architect Gaudi, famous for the architecture in Barcelona, was born.

Disclaimer: The reviews published on the site are intended solely for the purpose of providing general information and comment and are purely our opinions. We cannot guarantee that descriptions on this site are accurate, up to date or free from error. We have found that the campsites described are very good and are some of the top campsites in France but we find that it is difficult to find a campsite which has 100% of what you are looking for.  Also one person may love a busy campsite with lots of activities while someone else may love a quiet campsite with a small swimming pool. Actually we tend to be the latter ! So what we have done is highlight the good points of the sites and maybe point out a few of what we have found as slightly negative points. However we strongly recommend that you make full use of as many internet sources as possible before deciding about your holiday, including such things as Google maps.
